We won’t have many more sunny, warm days like the one we had today. With the temperature in the low 80s and puffy white clouds speckling the sky, I made my way to Bill Clarke Field on the Princeton University campus to watch a baseball team intra-squad scrimmage.
It was great to reconnect with Coach Scott Bradley (at top, addressing the players) and his staff and to meet several of the newly arrived first-year players before the scrimmage started.
The scrimmage lasted about an hour, and I enjoyed being up close to the action. I’m including a few of the photos I took and I look forward to catching a few more fall workouts before the cold weather sets in.
Meantime, I’m watching the Phillies struggle against the Royals as they try to clinch the NL East title. Afterwards, the Eagles play the Chiefs, so I’ll get a full quota of sports. 🧢

Great work as always on capturing the moments. I like that college baseball continues with these scrimmages. What do you do in winter? Do they have an indoor facility?
Thanks, Steve. We have an indoor facility, “The Pit,” at the bottom level of Jadwin Gymnasium. It has a full infield and roughly half an outfied, plus batting cages. It’s a great way to keep the guys tuned up.
Many reasons in my mind to be bitter about the state of baseball, but one definite bright spot is the surge of interest in college baseball.
