My beloved, talismanic Milwaukee Brewers batting helmet is hanging in a new home. More accurately, I should say it was hanging, briefly, above the mantel until it toppled off the too-short nail in the wall over the fireplace in our new house.
The living room – like every other room in the house – is too cluttered with boxes and furniture to allow me easily to reaffix the helmet. But the symbolic gesture was done, and we are now safe at home.
The photo of the helmet was run through an Instagr.am filter on my iPhone, and it’s actually a fairly good vision of how the helmet looked on the wall.
I’ve never been a daily blogger, and my posting has been even more sporadic of late because of the chaos wrought by another transcontinental move. As we settle in and unbox our stuff, I’ll get back on beam in posting here and in reading and commenting on the work of my blogging network friends.
I hope you enjoy your new home. We are actually moving into a house (after spending the last three years in apartments) in a couple of weeks. My boys are really excited about having an actual backyard. Glad your move seems to have gone well so far. Our move is not transcontinental; we’re actually moving only about 5 miles.
Take care,
Bill
Even at 5 miles, any move is a big deal. Good luck with the transition. I hope there’s room out back so you can play catch with your boys. Our new yard makes a fine field for Wiffle Ball games.
I enjoyed this post and am happy that you are seeing an old friend every day, Dan. I always liked this Brewers logo both for its creativity and colors. Seeing it now makes me recall Moose Haas, Gorman Thomas, Robin Yount and Manager Harvey Kuenn.
I hope you are enjoying your new adventures, whether they be at work, home, Yankee Stadium, Citi Field or Citizens Bank Park.
Best Regards,
Michael / Grubby.
